Christina Mackie

Tate Exhibition - The Filter 2015

I am looking at Mackie's art work in the exhibition because of her use of colour. She used dipped silk nets that were twelve meters high, suspended over pans of semi-crystallised dye, anchored to the floor by hand cast weights. These nets hang below skylights.

The ink looks as though it is dripping down the nets but in fact the silk has soaked up the dye. These pools of dye had a dark reflective quality to them inverting part of the display to the viewers.
